Free online PDF editor — no signup, no uploads

Edit, sign, redact, merge and convert PDFs right in your browser. Open a PDF or a document photo above, make your changes and export — free, with no account or watermark.

Your documents stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and no software installation is needed.

Tools to edit and organize your PDFs

Sign PDFs and fill forms

Add text, highlights, ticks, boxes and lines. Draw your signature once and place it anywhere. Fill in forms.

Add text or replace PDF text

Add text or tap a line to replace its words. Match the font style, size and colour. Pages with replacements are exported as images with your new text on top.

Redact sensitive information

Blacked-out words are removed from the exported file, not just covered — they cannot be copied back out.

Read English scans with OCR

Recognize text on clean English scans and photos. Search and replace recognized words, or export a searchable PDF for copying text in your PDF reader.

Merge, split and rearrange PDFs

Reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate and merge. Pull pages out into a new document. Add page or Bates numbers.

Convert PDF to Word, PowerPoint or images

Turn JPG and PNG images into PDF pages. Export PDF to Word, PowerPoint, PNG or JPG. Editable Word rebuilds text; exact-look Word and PowerPoint use page images.

How to edit a PDF online

  1. Open your document. Choose a PDF or image, or drag it into the editor. Select multiple files to merge them.
  2. Make your changes. Add text, fill forms, draw a signature, redact information or organize pages.
  3. Export your result. Download a PDF, Word file, PowerPoint or images. Check your download before closing the tab.

The editor and English OCR engine run on your device. Once the page has loaded, you can continue editing without an internet connection. There are no accounts or server-imposed document quotas; large files are limited by your device's available memory.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Advertising may help support the site when enabled. There is no paid tier and no watermark.

Do I need to sign up to edit a PDF?

No. Open the editor, choose your file and start editing. There is no account, email request or software installation.

Can the adverts see my documents?

No. The editor runs in a sealed frame that the rest of the page, adverts included, cannot look into; and the editor itself is forbidden by the browser from making any network connection. The advertising is on the page around it, not in it.

Are my documents saved?

Not by us, and not in your browser either: when you close or refresh the tab they are gone. Export your work before you leave.

Does redaction really remove the text?

Yes. A redacted page is redrawn as a picture with the black painted in, so the words underneath are not in the exported file at all. For anything legal or regulated, still check the result — search the exported file for a redacted word — before you send it.

How good is the text recognition?

Good on clean scans of printed English, and it runs on your device. It is a machine reading a picture: expect the odd wrong letter or digit, and check anything that matters.

Can I convert a PDF to an editable Word document?

Yes. Choose “Word — editable text” when exporting. It rebuilds text as editable paragraphs, but does not preserve all artwork or layout. “Word — exact look” and PowerPoint exports use a picture of each page.

Which browsers work?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox, on a computer, tablet or phone.
